Red hair dye question?!?

So i have natural dark brown hair but ive always wanted INTENSE red hair! so i saw the loreal hi lights for naturally dark hair at sallys, which dyes your hair BRIGHT red without bleach! which i thought was awesome! so will it still work for me even though my hair is a faded out auburn-ey color with dark roots?
