Do you like dating in public or some place just the two of you?

I'm not so much into the dates in public. Is it more a female thing to date in public or a male thing? Is it a show-off thing if you want people to see you out on a date? And why do I notice my dates act differently when people are around versus the just me and you moments. Are the ones who prefer to date in public have an insecurity or something and wants social validation, like they want to feel they are part of something. Is it more romantic when people see you, or am I just being a rambling insomniac right now and thinking too deep about this trivial issue? I guess it's unavoidable dating in public, unless you are super-rich or royalty and a place will shut down public access to serve you and your date exclusively.
